Ukraine and Romania will jointly build a new bridge across the Danube

The project is expected to shorten logistics routes, strengthen cross-border cooperation and become an important element of the E87 international corridor.

In the south of the Odessa region, a new bridge is planned to be built across the Danube, connecting the village of Orlivka (Izmail district) with the Romanian city of Isaccia. This is reported by Dilova Odesa.

The bridge will become part of the E87 international transport corridor, which connects Ukraine with Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. Currently, drivers have to go around Moldova, crossing the border twice. The new bridge will shorten the route by approximately 80 kilometers, which will greatly facilitate the transportation of goods and travel.

The project is planned to be financed by international aid – over 12.6 billion hryvnias over three years. In 2025, 1.26 billion will be allocated, in 2026 – almost 3.8 billion, and in 2027 – over 7.5 billion hryvnias.

The planned stages include design, environmental studies, construction of the bridge and access roads, creation of checkpoints and connection to international routes.

The future bridge will be four-lane, with sidewalks for pedestrians on both sides, and will be resistant to earthquakes up to 9 points. An access road 3 km long will be built on the Ukrainian side, and 950 meters on the Romanian side.

As USM reported, Ukraine, Romania and the EU previously agreed on further steps for the development of Danube ports.
