Ukraine and Sweden have agreed on mutual recognition of seafarers’ documents

Ukraine and Sweden signed a Memorandum of Understanding in London on mutual recognition of diplomas and certificates of seafarers.
This was reported by the acting head of the Shipping Administration Mykola Kravchuk.
He recalled that vessels under the Swedish flag comply with international maritime safety standards and ensure the rights of seafarers. Sweden, in particular, is included in the “white list” of the Paris Memorandum on Port State Control and as of 2024 has a low detention rate – 5 out of 325.
“Together with the Deputy Director of the Department of Civil Aviation and Maritime Transport of the Swedish Transport Agency Pernilla Wallin, we also coordinated interaction within the IMO during the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in the 110th session of the Maritime Safety Committee,” Kravchuk commented.
According to him, the key issues of cooperation were the elections to the IMO Council, monitoring of Russian attacks and the “shadow fleet.”
Separately, the parties discussed the evacuation of ships from the blocked ports of Kherson and Mykolaiv, as well as the role of the International Maritime Organization in this.
Earlier, USM reported that the Cabinet of Ministers had changed the procedure for issuing a seafarer’s identity card.
