Ukraine detained a vessel on the Danube because of ties with the Russian Federation
The vessel “Usko Mfu” entered Ukrainian waters after a voyage to occupied Sevastopol.
Ukraine has detained a ship that repeatedly entered the Crimea, writes Lloyd’s List.
The vessel was on its way from Moldova when it was intercepted at the request of the Crimean prosecutor’s office. We are talking about the vessel “Usko Mfu” (IMO:7919781, flag Cameroon).
The message states that the ship illegally crossed the state border of Ukraine and was transporting cargo to and from Sevastopol, which is occupied by Russia. The ship’s agent and broker claim that the “Usko Mfu” was intercepted by a military boat while in Romanian waters.
It should be noted that the Danube is a narrow waterway, and the specific section that “Usko Mfu” was on borders both Romania and Ukraine.
Lloyd’s List Intelligence analysis shows that the “Usko Mfu” passed between Ukrainian and Romanian waters, heading downstream. The ship was searched and it was forbidden to leave it. Barley is loaded on board and its destination is Souda, Greece.
