Ukraine plans to open a new route across the Danube

Ukraine plans to open an additional route through the Danube River to increase exports of agricultural products.

Oleksandr Kubrakov, the Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, said this in an interview with Bloomberg.

According to him, the reason for the new route is Polish protesters blocking the land border with the European Union.

“Our plans for this year are to remove all artificial obstacles for exporters and we are working on improving internal logistics. We are planning container transportation through the upper Danube, as Romania is more predictable than the Polish border,” Kubrakov said.

He also added that the proposed new route will run from the Ukrainian port of Izmail to the Romanian Constanta and the Danube ports of Germany.
