Ukraine proposed key areas of the 20th package of EU sanctions against Russia

The focus of the new restrictions is on the Russian “shadow fleet” and the assets of the oligarchs who sponsor the war.
During the latest consultations with the EU, Ukraine submitted a number of proposals that should be included in the 20th package of sanctions against Russia. This was reported by the Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasyuk, writes “Ukrinform”.
In particular, we are talking about:
• measures against sanctions circumvention schemes and the infrastructure of the so-called shadow fleet of the Russian Federation;
• sanctions against Russian oligarchs, who still remain outside the restrictions;
• bringing to justice those involved in the abduction of children from the occupied territories.
The document still needs to be approved by European institutions.
Additionally, Vlasyuk emphasized that more than 50% of the provisions of the previous 19th EU sanctions package were proposed on Ukrainian initiatives.
Vlasyuk noted that the mechanism of so-called “kinetic sanctions” is being considered separately — when the destruction of facilities (for example, the terminal in Tuapse) creates a need to import goods or services that are themselves subject to sanctions, and thus the consequences are felt longer.
Thus, the day before, USM reported that during the attack in the Russian port of Tuapse, Greek and Turkish tankers were illegally loaded.
