Ukraine reduced grain exports through Constanta by more than half
The volume of grain exports from Ukraine through the Romanian port of Constanta in the first 10 months of 2024 amounted to 5.66 million tons.
In the first 10 months of this year, grain exports from Ukraine through the port of Constanta decreased by 52% compared to the same period last year. This is reported by “Lardi.Today”.
In total, from January to October 2024, 5.66 million tons of Ukrainian grain were transshipped in Constanta. In October, about 490 thousand tons of grain from Ukraine were shipped from the port.
The port of Constanta is a key transport hub for grain exports, also handling cargo from neighboring countries such as Serbia, Hungary and Moldova, which do not have their own access to the sea.
After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, the port of Constanta became an important alternative for Ukrainian grain exports. The goods are delivered by road, rail and barges across the Danube. Despite this, the total volume of grain exports through Constanta decreased by 20% in the first 10 months of the year, reaching 23.5 million tons.
Earlier, USM wrote that the Ukrainian share in the grain segment of the port of Constanta decreased from 40% to 24%.
