Ukraine wants to move customs control of trucks deeper into the EU due to drone attacks

Ukraine is in talks with Poland and Slovakia to move customs controls on grain trucks from border checkpoints deep into the territory of these countries.
This is reported by Reuters with reference to the Financial Times.
The aim of the initiative is to reduce the risk of Russian drone attacks on trucks that accumulate near the Ukrainian border.
According to the FT, Ukraine has already created joint border control points with Moldova and now wants to extend this model to other neighbors, including Poland.
The spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Heorhiy Tykhyi, told the FT that the need for changes is related to the new security situation, in which Russia is purposefully attacking Ukraine’s border infrastructure.
According to him, Kyiv is striving to finalize agreements with Poland as soon as possible.
Moving customs procedures deep into EU territory could reduce the concentration of freight transport directly near the border and reduce the vulnerability of exporters to attacks. USM previously reported that due to problems with sea exports, the wait at the border with Poland has increased to 7-9 days.
