Due to problems with sea exports, the wait at the border with Poland has increased to 7-9 days

Due to restrictions on the operation of Ukrainian seaports and Russian attacks on infrastructure, the waiting time at the border with Poland has increased significantly in recent months and currently reaches 7-9 days.

This was stated by Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Restoration Serhiy Derkach during the Economic Truth Export Forum.

According to him, before the aggravation of the situation with export logistics, the total waiting time when leaving Ukraine and entering Poland was about 2-3 days.

Currently, this figure has increased to 7-9 days. On other sections of the western border, the situation is somewhat better, but in general, the load on land logistics has increased.

Derkach noted that problems at the border, in particular, affect fuel imports.

Against the background of limited maritime logistics capabilities, the state is working to increase the throughput capacity of land routes. In particular, this concerns the expansion of checkpoints and the development of railway infrastructure of the European gauge 1435 mm from the border into Ukraine.

“The more such infrastructure opportunities we have, the more opportunities there will be to export and import with an increase in the number of companies that will be engaged in this,” Derkach noted.

Earlier, USM reported that agricultural exports from Ukraine have decreased by 50–60% due to the logistics crisis. Ukraine currently exports about 2 million tons of agricultural products per month with a potential of 5–6 million tons, and the cost of maritime logistics has increased approximately fivefold.
