If the terms of trade between the EU and Ukraine change, it will probably be necessary to look for new markets for the sale of Ukrainian wheat.
If the mechanisms for exporting agricultural products to the EU change, then wheat supplies to this market may decrease from 6 million tons to 1 million tons, повідомив said UGA President Mykola Gorbachev.
This refers to possible changes in export mechanisms after the end of the autonomous trade measures (ATM).
“We hope that in the 2024/2025 season we will sell about 6 million tons of wheat to the European Union. There are rumors that from June 6, 2025, there are agreements, if the same mechanisms are not used, then we will be able to export only 1 million tons under the quota. Then for 5 million tons we will have to look for other markets,” said Gorbachev.
The UZA President also pointed to the position of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and agrarian politicians, who are trying to find new markets for Ukrainian agricultural products, in particular in African countries.
Therefore, even if the European Commission imposes restrictions, the Ukrainian harvest will be completely sold, believes Gorbachev.
The President of the UGA is confident that other grain crops will not be subject to restrictions.
Earlier, USM reported that exports of Ukrainian agricultural products amounted to 5 million tons in January.
