Ukrainian farmers have begun to be provided with sleeves for storing grain

The distribution of sleeves has begun for nine front-line regions. The assistance is needed because limited sea exports increase the load on existing grain storage facilities.
This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Farms that cultivate from 100 to 3,000 hectares of land receive assistance. Priority is given to farmers whose infrastructure has been damaged due to hostilities. One of the first distributions took place in Sumy region.
First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Denys Bashlyk noted that this is practical assistance to farms that already need to store the harvested crop.
“Due to the war, part of the infrastructure has been destroyed or damaged, and limited sea exports additionally increase the load on existing storage facilities. The sleeves make it possible to store grain directly on the farm and not to sell it forcibly due to the lack of free capacity. I thank our partners, thanks to whom this assistance reaches producers directly,” Denys Bashlyk emphasized.
Agricultural producers from nine regions submitted 2,319 applications. 13,881 sleeves are required to meet the declared need. One sleeve holds about 200 tons of grain, i.e., thanks to the declared number of sleeves, it will be possible to additionally store up to 2.8 million tons of grain and oilseed crops
It should be noted that the assistance covers agricultural producers in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson and Chernihiv regions.
The Ministry of Agriculture noted that at the same time, Ukraine continues to work on the restoration of full-fledged sea exports and the expansion of alternative logistics routes.
As previously reported by USM, Ukraine is negotiating with Hungary on the transit of agricultural products. Budapest previously agreed to allow the cargo topass on the condition that they do not enter the Hungarian market.
