Ukrainian maritime corridor has transported 150 million tons of cargo, — Kuleba

After the modernization of the interchange to the ports is completed, the throughput of freight transport will increase by another 20%.
150 million tons of cargo have already passed through the Ukrainian maritime corridor, including more than 90 million tons of grain delivered to 55 countries around the world. This was announced by the Minister for Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksiy Kuleba.
According to him, even under constant shelling, Ukrainian ports continue to operate daily, ensuring stable exports and the country’s logistical capacity.
At the same time, a meeting on port security and critical infrastructure protection was held in Odesa on October 16. Details of the event were not disclosed, but Kuleba emphasized that significant attention is paid to protecting people working in ports.
“We are building a network of shelters — they have already proven their effectiveness. During shelling, workers are in safe places,” the minister noted.
Currently, 30 stationary shelters and 21 mobile protective structures are operating in the ports of Greater Odesa. It is planned to equip another 28 by the end of the year. Port operators and private companies have also installed their own protective structures, which is one of the conditions for cooperation.
In addition to security, the modernization of transport infrastructure is underway – repair work is being carried out at the interchanges leading to the ports. After their completion, the throughput capacity of freight transport will increase by more than 20%, which will allow reducing queues, accelerating exports and increasing the efficiency of the maritime corridor.
“Each such modernization strengthens the economy, supports the work of Ukrainian manufacturers and preserves Ukraine’s role as a reliable partner in the world market,” Kuleba emphasized.
The day before, USM wrote that the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed an explosive mine that the Russians dropped on civilian routes in the Black Sea.
