Ukrainian ports processed 6 million tons last month, — USPA

In April 2025, Ukrainian seaports handled 6 million tons of cargo. The largest share was grain and ore.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Seaports Administration (USPA) in a comment to Ukrinform.

The largest share in the total volume of transshipment in Ukrainian ports has traditionally been grain cargo — 3.1 million tons, as well as ore — 1 million tons.

Within the Ukrainian maritime corridor in April, 5.3 million tons of cargo were transported, of which 2.9 million tons were agricultural products.

According to the USPA, the largest volumes of cargo transshipment were recorded in the ports of Greater Odessa. In particular, in April, the port of Pivdennyi processed 2.4 million tons, the Black Sea port — 1.8 million tons, the port of Odesa — 1 million tons. The ports of the Danube region (Izmail, Reni and Ust-Dunaysk) together processed about 800 thousand tons.

Vyacheslav Kharkavenko, Deputy Head of the State Enterprise “USPA”, noted that despite a number of serious challenges – a reduction in sown areas due to a full-scale war, mining and temporary occupation of some territories, as well as the decline of industry, in particular in metallurgy (where up to 80% of production was exported before the war) – Ukrainian seaports maintain operational stability even in conditions of extremely high risks.

“In addition, the spring period is traditionally characterized by a decrease in agricultural exports – volumes begin to grow from mid-summer. Despite the listed challenges, Ukrainian ports continue to perform their functions and remain an important pillar for the country’s economy,” Kharkavenko concluded.

As previously reported by USM, last year Ukraine ranked third among suppliers of agricultural products to the EU.
