Ukrainian refugees will be evicted from a ferry in Estonia
900 refugees from Ukraine currently live on the Isabelle ferry. But in July, the ship will be chartered by a Canadian company.
Since April last year, 900 Ukrainian refugees have been living on the ship Isabelle (flag — Latvia) in the Old Port of Tallinn. From July 1, the ferry will be chartered by a Canadian company, the press service of the Tallink ferry operator reports.
The contract with Canada’s Bridgemans Floatel LP/Bridgemans Services Group LP for the multi-year ferry charter was signed last week. The contract provides for the possibility of future repurchase of the vessel. The ferry will be chartered bareboat by Tallink Group.
Isabelle is scheduled to undergo maintenance and repairs in July and depart for Canada by the end of the year.
According to the terms of the contract between Tallink and the Department of Social Insurance, the ship will be used as a temporary shelter for Ukrainian refugees until June.
The Department promised to inform later where Estonia plans to place the refugees currently living on the ferry.
