Ukrainian seafarers detained in the Netherlands
The police detained two Ukrainian seafarers who were transporting illegal migrants on a yacht in the Netherlands.
In the Netherlands, off the coast of the North Sea, two Ukrainian seafarers were detained for transporting 11 migrants from Albania on a yacht. The vessel was detained on September 24th near the town of Ouddorp in the Dutch province of Zeeland. This was reported by the press service of the Royal Netherlands Maritime Police.
The yacht was reported to be heading to the UK. It is to this country that most migrants are trying to get. Two seafarers were detained on suspicion of human smuggling.
According to law enforcement officers, now smugglers are increasingly trying to smuggle migrants on sailing yachts. “Recently, several smugglers’ sailing vessels have been stopped off the coast of the Netherlands,” a police spokesman told the ANP news agency.
