Ukrainian Special Operation Forces received Latvian Rey catamaran drones for evacuation and cargo delivery

Ukrainian special forces have received new equipment from partners from Latvia – Rey catamaran drones are already performing combat missions on the front.

The Ukrainian Special Operation Forces have received Latvian Rey unmanned catamarans, which are already being used during combat missions. This is reported by “Militarnyi”.

NEWT21, the company that developed the drones, stated that the drones have already successfully completed many tasks in Ukraine.

Rey is a fully electric catamaran drone designed for use in inland waters. Its design provides for the transportation of cargo, weapons, and the evacuation of the wounded. As noted by NEWT21, in Ukraine the platform “carries out the transportation of ammunition and picks up the wounded on the return journey”.

The vessel is equipped with two 3 kW electric motors, which allows it to develop a cruising speed of up to 6 km/h and a maximum speed of up to 16 km/h. At the same time, the drone can operate for up to 24 hours at economical speed, and up to 3.5 hours at maximum speed.

Rey is 4.5 meters long, 2.6 meters wide, weighs less than 300 kg and can carry up to 500 kg of payload. The declared range is up to 60 km.

Also, the day before, USM wrote that a Latvian startup presented an underwater drone PIKE with a range of 80 km. The developers have ambitious plans: from environmental monitoring to military use behind enemy lines.
