Ukrainian yachtsman wins silver at prestigious regatta in Spain


Ukrainian yachtsman Andriy Verdysh won a silver medal at a prestigious international regatta in Spain.

Yachtsman Andriy Verdysh ended 2024 with a significant achievement, winning “silver” at the XXI New Year’s Race – Memorial Kim Lythgoe 2024 regatta. This was reported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The competition was held in the Spanish city of Cadiz and brought together leading athletes from around the world. Verdysh competed in the ILCA7 class, where he demonstrated a high level of training and endurance. In a tense fight for first place, he lost to Spanish yachtsman Diego Manuel Torregrosa Sabio.

Another representative of Ukraine, Danylo Raychuk, also performed well at the regatta, taking fifth place in the same class.

The New Year’s Race – Memorial Kim Lythgoe sailing regatta is considered one of the important events in international yachting, which traditionally opens a new sports season.
