USPA discussed with Germany the protection of ports from missile and hybrid threats

The parties are considering the possibility of a systemic partnership with the Hamburg Port Authority and the involvement of the USPA in the Hamburg-Gdansk dialogue.

The head of the State Enterprise “USPA” Mykola Kravchuk held a meeting in Odessa with the Permanent Deputy Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine Katrin Buchholz, representatives of the German Embassy and the HHLA company. This was повідомили reported by the Sea Ports Administration of Ukraine.

The parties discussed practical cooperation in protecting critical port infrastructure, cybersecurity, responding to crisis situations and ensuring the continuity of port operations.

The possibility of a systemic partnership between the USPA and the Hamburg Port Authority was separately considered – in particular within international formats on resilience and cybersecurity, as well as the involvement of the Ukrainian side in the Hamburg-Gdansk dialogue in the field of port security.

“Port security today is not only a matter of transport infrastructure. It is a matter of economic sustainability and European security. Ukraine has unique practical experience of port operations in conditions of real missile, unmanned and hybrid threats, and Germany has powerful technological, engineering and organizational competencies. The combination of these capabilities can give a practical result,” Kravchuk noted.

Following the meeting, promising areas were identified as the exchange of expertise, assessment of the needs of Ukrainian ports and adaptation of modern security solutions taking into account real experience of work in war conditions.

The USPA itself has allocated more than UAH 100 million this year for measures to protect port infrastructure, in particular for the modernization of security systems and integration with units of the Unmanned Systems Forces.

The day before, USM wrote that Ukraine and Germany discussed the possibilities of increasing exports through the German ports of Hamburg and Rostock.
