USPA is preparing for the ice campaign

The Chornomorsk branch of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority has begun preparations for the ice campaign.

The branch plans to order tugboat services to support icebreaking operations in the water area of the Sukhoi Estuary of the seaport of Chornomorsk.

The initial cost of services is UAH 6 million (USD 228.83 thousand). The contractor will choose the company that will offer the lowest amount among the participants in the tender. The minimum step of lowering the price is UAH 30 thousand (USD 1.14 thousand) .

The deadline for applications is November 22nd. The auction itself will be carried out on December 28th.

Earlier, USM reported that the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine proposed to change the rules for announcing ice campaigns in ports, depending on the actual ice situation. This is necessary in order to regulate the procedure for charging fees for icebreaker services.

At the moment, ice campaigns, during the period of operation of which an icebreaker ship conducts convoys of ships to or from the port, are announced by the Maritime Administration of Ukraine. If the campaign has not been announced, and the actual ice situation requires it, then the Harbor Master can announce it, but only in the port’s coverage area. In addition, it is necessary to immediately notify the Maritime Administration about this, after which it will issue an appropriate order. The end of the company was announced in the same way.
