USPA plans to expand the competitive capabilities of ports on the Danube

During the working trip, the USPA team discussed the work aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Danube ports.
The three-day working trip to Izmail and Reni was made by the head of the SE “USPA” Oleksandr Semyrha together with his team, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authoruty reports.
In particular, roundtables were held with port operators, during which both strategic development directions and a number of pressing issues were discussed.
Among the main topics were increasing operational efficiency, tariff regulation, the functioning of border infrastructure and mechanisms for attracting new market participants to logistics processes in the Danube region.
“We are actively looking for ways to expand the competitive capabilities of the ports of the Danube region – through improving logistics processes and attracting additional cargo traffic. We are already working on a specific action plan that should ensure the stabilization of this logistics direction in the long term and guarantee the sustainable work of the enterprise and the team,” Oleksandr Semirga noted.
Both in Reni and Izmail, the issue of reducing transshipment volumes was raised – this topic became a key one during communication with port operators. After the resumption of work of the ports of Greater Odessa, part of the cargo was reoriented, which significantly reduced the load on the ports of the Danube. At the same time, there is a general trend towards a decrease in cargo turnover throughout the port system of Ukraine. This is due to the reduction in agricultural production, the decline in industrial volumes, in particular the metallurgical industry, and the complication of logistics chains.
Oleksandr Semyrhaa also met with the management of the Orlivka – Isakcha ferry complex to discuss issues of logistical capabilities and interaction with adjacent infrastructure.
