UZ: in the port of Izmail, the situation is difficult with idle wagons

The extremely difficult situation with the unloading of wagons among sea ports is observed in the port of Izmail.
“At the Izmail station, there are 1,293 wagons on the UZ, 151, 59 are planned to be unloaded at the station. Unfortunately, the weather interfered – it rained on the second day. Therefore, there is a failure to unload grain,” said a representative of the Odesa Railway during a meeting with representatives of the grain transportation market on December 15, Rail.insider reports.
At the same time, he added that the availability of cargo has been reduced in recent days and the situation may significantly improve within a few days.
In addition to the weather, the limits on the consumption of electricity, both in the ports themselves and on the railways, have a negative impact on transportation.
According to Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Commercial Work of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”, the downtime of loaded wagons “is connected with the weak absorption of cargo by the Izmail port itself.” UZ, for its part, increased the number of shunting locomotives in this direction.
