UZ resumed the export of grain for transit through Poland

JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” resumed transportation of Ukrainian agricultural products for export by rail for transit through Poland, which had been suspended since April 15.

Shipments were allowed for land transit and transit to the seaports of Gdańsk, Gdynia, Świnoujście and Szczecin. The Interfax-Ukraine agency was informed about this by the press service of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences.

“Ukrzaliznytsia” resumes export transit transportation of Ukrainian agricultural goods by rail through the territory of Poland. The company received a corresponding notification about the cancellation of restrictions on the specified transportation from the Polish carrier PKP Cargo on April 21, 2023,” the company said.

It is noted that the notification on the resumption of transit was preceded by the order of the Minister of Development and Technologies of Poland Waldemar Buda regarding transit cargo from Ukraine.

Also, the mirror restrictive conventions regarding the transit of some goods in the direction of Poland will soon be canceled. They were introduced by the UZ on April 17, after the appeal of the Polish railway operators PKP Cargo and PKP LHS.

At the same time, the issue of 3,000 wagons with Ukrainian agricultural products, which were loaded and accepted for transportation before the introduction of the convention ban by Polish carriers, remains unresolved.

It will be recalled that in April, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria introduced a temporary ban on the import of Ukrainian grain and other types of agricultural products. In particular, Poland suspended the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products, but later resumed it from April 21.
