Volumes of grain loading in UZ decreased to 12%

The share of grain in the total wagon load of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” decreased to 12%.

Since the beginning of May, the volumes of grain loading amounted to 705 thousand tons. In total, 7.7 million tons of cargo were loaded, so the share of grain decreased to 12%.

This was discussed during the meeting of the representatives of the UZ and the agricultural market on May 18, reports Rail.insider.

During this time, the average daily load was 41,000 tons.

According to Valery Tkachev, deputy director of the department of commercial work of the UZ, the company planned that the average grain load in May would be 91,000 tons. However, due to the blocking of the “grain corridor” by Russia and the introduction of restrictions on transportation to the western border crossings, the indicator remains at a very low level.

Negative dynamics are also observed in grain transportation by rail. For example, over 17 days in May, almost 344,000 tons were transported to the ports, and approximately 276,000 tons were transported through the western crossings. Tkachev noted that if this situation persists, then according to the results of May, only about 1.2 million tons of grain will be transported by rail.
