Vysotskyi: Ukrainian farmers should look for sales markets outside the EU
Due to increased restrictions on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products by the EU, farmers are advised to look for new sales markets.
Ukrainian exporters should look for alternative sales markets. This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy Taras Vysotskyi in the “Edyny Novyni” telethon.
The reason for this is that from June, the EU will be able to limit the import of certain types of Ukrainian agricultural products if their volumes exceed the quota. However, such quotas are much smaller than Ukraine’s export capabilities.
“Practically, the restrictions themselves come into effect on June 5 of this year. If at a certain moment, for example, on July 1, August 20, the volume of quotas for which the restrictions were proposed will be reached, then the EU has the right within 14 days to make a decision to limit the import of these products until the end of the calendar year,” noted Vysotsky.
The mechanism proposed by the EU is completely new in the history of trade relations. It is not known whether it will be used in practice, but such an option has been developed and can be used.
Previously, USM wrote that due to new EU restrictions, Ukraine may lose a billion euros.
