Zelenskyy: every month, the Russian Federation earns $10-12 billion from the “shadow fleet”.
Despite the sanctions and the price ceiling, the so-called “shadow fleet” brings Russia income that helps in the wars it has entered.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with representatives of the leading mass media of Northern European countries.
According to him, Russia earns from the shadow fleet from 10 to 12 billion dollars a month.
“If you count all the support that Ukraine received during the war from all partners, you will see that their fleet brought them more money. So sanctions don’t work if they can make so much money. More precisely, they are working, but not 100 percent,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
It should be noted that during the Northern Europe summit, the head of state also discussed with his partners the need to strengthen sanctions against Russia. In particular, limit the ability to use the shadow tanker fleet to finance aggression.
“It is very important that our partners in Northern Europe are supported in this by all partners in the European Union and the G7. Putin’s shadow tanker fleet is a global threat, and it’s time to find a solution to overcome it,” Zelenskyy said.
USM previously reported that the capacity of Russia’s shadow fleet, which transports oil on old and uninsured vessels, has increased by 70%.
