Reuters: Negotiations on the Grain Agreement will take place on May 3
Negotiations on an agreement mediated by the UN, which will allow the safe export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea, are scheduled for Wednesday, May 3.
All parties will participate in the discussion on the continuation of the Grain Agreement, Reuters notes, citing an unnamed high-ranking Ukrainian official.
“Negotiations are scheduled for tomorrow. All parties (will take part – ed.), I hope there will be results,” said the interlocutor of the agency, without giving details about the place of the meeting or its specific participants.
We will remind, on March 18, the Grain Agreement was extended for 120 days through the mediation of the UN. Instead, the russians are trying to disrupt the agreements. For the last 2 months, russian federation has been threatening the world with the termination of the “Grain Initiative” after May 18. In this way, the terrorist country is trying to achieve a partial lifting of sanctions.
In particular, russia demands:
• reconnect “Rossilhospbank” to SWIFT;
• resume export of agricultural machinery, spare parts and service;
• cancel restrictions on insurance and ban on access to ports;
• restore the operation of the Tolyatti-Odesa ammonia pipeline;
• unblock foreign assets and accounts of russian companies related to the production and transportation of food and fertilizers.
However, such statements by the russians contradict the international rules and conditions of the Black Sea Initiative. Blackmail by russian federation has no basis, because Ukraine does not have any legal relations with moscow.
Ukraine signed the Grain Agreement only with Turkey and the UN. According to the agreements, the Initiative is automatically extended for 120 days if neither party raises claims for breach of contract.
