Border guards rescued a Ukrainian sailor on the Danube


On the night of June 15, border guards of the Izmail detachment rescued a crew member of a German-flagged vessel on the Danube.

Border guards saved a Ukrainian citizen from drowning on the Danube River. The incident took place near the city of Kilia, the Izmail border detachment reported .

The tug’s senior mechanic accidentally fell overboard into the water. It began to be carried downstream. The border guard heard the person’s cry for help.

The border guards immediately went out on a boat to search and began to monitor the water surface with the help of a thermal imager.

About half an hour later, already outside the settlement, the state border guards were able to find and pull the man ashore. The man was given first aid before the ambulance arrived.

Currently, the man’s life and health are not in danger. Already on June 15, he returned to his ship.
