UZ registered the operator to work on the EU market

The European operator will be called Ukrainian Railways Cargo Poland.

JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” has registered a railway operator to work on the European market. Thus, Ukrainian Railways Cargo Poland will carry out transportation in Ukraine and European countries, according to the  Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

It is planned that Ukrainian Railways Cargo Poland at the first stage of work will:

• provide complex freight transportation services;

• coordinate work with European operators, cargo owners, border crossings;

• control the company’s rolling stock abroad.

According to the chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, Yevhen Lyashchenko, this is the beginning of the integration of freight railway transportation of Ukraine into the European space.

“We are starting to build a full-fledged cargo transportation operator on the territory of EU countries. The main principle of the international unit’s work is close ties with foreign partners, transparency and competition for the sake of a worthy representation of Ukrzaliznytsia on the international arena,” Yevhen Lyashchenko emphasized.

The long-term strategy of the international division of the company is at the final stage of development.

As previously reported by USM, in June 2023 it became known that UZ is already negotiating with the 10 largest grain companies, and is also considering the possibility of offering forwarding services to shippers of other types of cargo.
