He was transporting looted grain: another Russian captain was informed of the suspicion

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol informed the captain of a Russian vessel that was transporting looted Ukrainian grain of suspicion.

According to the investigation, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, a citizen of the Russian Federation illegally entered the closed seaports of Sevastopol and Kerch on the dry cargo ship “Navashino” to load grain belonging to Ukraine. After that, the looted grain was taken to Russian cities.

The Russian periodically turned off the AIS and entered fictitious information about the ship’s course into it in order to hide criminal activity. Thus, according to AIS data, the dry cargo was allegedly headed to the ports of the Russian Federation, and not to the closed sea ports of Crimea.

Now the suspect faces up to five years in prison.

Earlier, the Prosecutor’s Office reported suspicions to 13 captains of Russian vessels involved in the transportation of looted Ukrainian grain through the Crimea. The indictment against the occupying Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, who is involved in the organization of the scheme, is also pending before the court.

In addition, Ukraine seized 19 Russian vessels. According to preliminary information, looted grain from the occupied Crimea was supplied to Turkey, Lebanon and Syria.
