Russia is increasing oil exports amid shelling of Ukrainian ports
During the last marketing season, Russia successfully increased oil exports to India.
From September 2022 to the end of August 2023, Russia exported 683 thousand tons of sunflower oil to India. This is more than double the figure of the previous season, writes CТS.
During the same period, Russia also increased its export of soybean oil to India to 131,000 tons.
In total, during the last MR, the aggressor country exported 6.05 million tons of vegetable oil. This is 33% more than a year earlier.
At the same time, the export of sunflower oil increased by 25%. For the Russian Federation, this is a record 3.84 million tons.
It is worth noting that before the blockade of Ukrainian ports, India was the largest market for Ukrainian sunflower oil producers.
Thus, in 2019-2020, the Republic of Ukraine exported 6.6 million tons of vegetable oil by sea, of which 5.3 million tons were sunflower oil. Of them, 33% of sunflower oil (that is, 1.75 million tons) was sent to India.
