Despite EU and G7 sanctions on Russian oil, most vessels carrying Russian oil are insured in EU and G7 countries.

In the period from March 2022 to the end of November 2023, Great Britain insured vessels carrying Russian oil for the amount of 120.6 billion euros. This is stated in the analytical material of the Finnish research center CREA.

In the 12 months that have passed since the establishment of the maximum oil price (December 5, 2022), tankers insured in Great Britain transported Russian oil worth 46.4 billion euros.
