Turkish F-16s took off in Romania due to an attack on Ukrainian ports


F-16 fighters of the Turkish Air Force of the NATO mission in Romania took off during the Russian attack on the Ukrainian Danube ports.

On the night of February 9-10, Turkish fighter jets took off in Romania when Russia attacked Ukrainian ports on the Danube, the Romanian Ministry of Defense reported.

The agency monitored the situation on the border with Ukraine and informed the military about areas in Tulcea that could be affected by the Russian attack on Ukraine.

F-16 aircraft of the Turkish Air Force from the 86th Air Base in Fetesh took off around 01:15 at night to conduct airspace reconnaissance.

Two F-16s of the Romanian Air Force were also ready for departure. However, no violations of Romanian airspace were recorded during the Russian attacks.

The Ministry of Defense of Romania emphasized that it strongly condemns the attacks of the Russian Federation on civil infrastructure facilities in Ukrainian ports on the Danube.

As previously reported by USM, on January 11, Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria signed an  MOU oin Istanbul on the creation of the Naval Group for Mine Action in the Black Sea (MCM Black Sea).
