The Houthis attacked a tanker carrying Russian oil to India

The Yemeni Houthis in the Red Sea attacked an oil tanker carrying Russian oil to India with missiles.

The Houthis themselves claim that their missiles hit the “Andromeda Star” ship in the Red Sea, Reuters  reports.

US Central Command confirmed that the Iranian-backed Houthis launched three anti-ship ballistic missiles into the Red Sea from Yemen, causing minor damage to the vessel. The ship’s captain reported the damage to the ship.

One of the missiles landed close to another vessel, the “MV Maisha”, but it was not damaged. Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea says the Panamanian-flagged tanker “Andromeda Star” is owned by the British, but according to LSEG and Ambrey, the vessel was recently sold.

The current owner of the vessel is registered in the Seychelles. The tanker trades with Russia. According to Ambrey, the ship was heading from Primorsk (Russia) to Vadinar (India).

It will be recalled that the “Andromeda Star” tanker, which was illegally transporting Russian oil, recently had an accident off the coast of Denmark.
