Last year, “Nibulon” doubled the volume of transportation with its own fleet on the Danube

In 2022, more than 10% of the company’s cargo was delivered by Nibulon’s own fleet. Already in 2024, this indicator reached the mark of 27%.

The director of logistics of the company, Serhii Kalkutin, told about this in an interview with Mind.

According to him, at the end of 2022, transportation by its own fleet amounted to 6 thousand tons per month. Last year, the company increased volumes – at the beginning of the year, two caravans were used, and later – three. In total, approximately 2.2 million tons of cargo were transported by barge-towing caravans last year.

“We started work in the ports of Reni and Izmail, loaded barges and traded on FOB Izmail terms with delivery to Constanta. And they built their own transshipment complex. In the second half of 2022, we relocated part of our fleet to the Danube. Our specialists dismantled some vessels in Mykolaiv and transported them by land to our enterprise in Izmail. Later, the fleet started working,” said Serhii Kalkutin.

According to the results of the first quarter of this year, the volume of caravan transportation to Constanta exceeded 585,000 tons, including more than 156,000 tons transported by our own fleet. Therefore, the share of transportation by own fleet reached 27%.

Nibulon also cooperates with the Romanian transport and logistics company TTS to optimize logistics chains.

At the same time, there was an outflow of cargo from the Danube – in fact, the volume decreased by three times: in peak periods it was 2 million tons, today – 600-700 thousand tons per month.

“In cooperation with TTS, we aim to maintain the shipment volumes we have achieved – about 200,000 tons per month. In the conditions of decreasing freight costs from Ukrainian Black Sea ports, the logistics chain of the Danube – Constanta shipment becomes $10 more expensive compared to the ports of Greater Odessa, therefore it is important to find opportunities to build a more sustainable flow of transportation and minimize costs at all stages of our logistics chain to Constanta.” Serhiy Kalkutin stressed.

Earlier, USM reported that the Bessarabska branch of the Nibulon agricultural holding in Izmail has handled almost 3.1 million tons of grain since its opening.
