Inspections of barges from Constanta on Russian fuel were canceled in Ukraine

In Ukraine, the order on increased control of barges loaded in the port of Constanţa (Romania) was withdrawn.

Energy Customs received a letter from the law enforcement agencies about the revocation of the order regarding the increased control of barges. This was reported to enkorr by market participants

“Yesterday in the afternoon, the letter regarding Konstanza was cancelled,” a large trader told the publication on condition of anonymity.

According to the available data, the inspection of the fuel barge of the UNTK company, which was the first to be sampled, was also suspended.

Intentions to tighten control over sea supplies from Constanta caused confusion in the market and among Romanian traders and authorities. They reject any possibility of fuel of unknown or Russian origin entering the port.

We will remind you that the Energy Customs Service of the State Customs Service introduced a regime of enhanced control of barges from Romanian and Georgian ports from June 10 at the request of the SBU. It involves the sampling of petroleum products, due to which the cargo is delayed for two weeks or more. According to the SBU, Russian diesel fuel could enter Ukraine from the ports of Constanta and Batumi.

Last year, the customs introduced the requirements of increased control over petroleum products of Turkey, which is the world’s largest importer of diesel fuel from Russia. Similar measures were later applied to imports from Moldova and Bulgaria. The ports of these countries received tankers with fuel of Russian, Turkish, and unknown origin. This led to the virtual cessation of imports from these countries.
