Ukraine probably does not plan to develop a “Ukrainian” port in Vietnam, media reports

The Ministry of Reconstruction is no longer the governing body of ChMP Blasko, which owned 38% of the corporate rights in the port of Lotus (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam).

Thus, in 2017, it became known that Ukraine, represented by the state enterprise “Black Sea Shipping” (Blasko), has 38% of corporate rights in the Vietnamese port “Lotos”.

In 2019, the leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure considered the possibility of developing the port with the participation of Ukraine. Then they received dividends of $250,000 for 2012-2016 and $140,000 for 2017 from the Vietnamese side.

In response to the information request of the CTS, the ministry informed that, according to the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of January 10, 2023, the single property complexes of the company “Black Sea Shipping” were transferred to the sphere of management of the State Property Fund.

That is, currently the governing body of the company through which Ukraine owns (or used to own) a share of the port “Lotos” is State Property Fund. The mass media assumes that the state’s plans no longer include participation in the development of the Vietnamese port, since the Ministry of Reconstruction is no longer concerned with this asset.

The journalists also sent a request to the State Property Fund. The position will be published after receiving a response. At the same time, on the port’s website, ChMP Blasko is listed as one of the participants in the joint venture.

It is worth noting that the Russian Federation and Vietnam are also discussing the further development of the maritime corridor between Vladivostok and Ho Chi Minh City.

It will be recalled that in 2022, MSC planned to build a container terminal in Vietnam’s largest river port, Ho Chi Minh City. The cost of the project was then estimated at $6 billion.
