Modernization of the UDS vessel will reduce operating costs by EUR 500,000

Modernization of the UDS river freighter can save the company up to 500,000 euros per year.

This is evidenced by calculations that take into account the costs of fuel, lubricants, maintenance, spare parts and the average number of flights per year, the UDS said.

During a working visit to the Austrian shipyard ÖSWAG, the advantages of the modernized vessel “Captain Antypov” over the old UDS vessels were confirmed. If it usually takes up to an hour to start the main engines, on a new vessel this process takes only a minute – after pressing a button.

ÖSWAG representatives note that the modernization provided the ship with high reliability thanks to the installation of Mitsubishi engines. Experience confirms that these engines allow you to reduce the frequency of repairs to a minimum, and the vessel will work almost continuously, stopping only for scheduled maintenance.

Automation of management, increased reliability and economy of the modernized vessel will lead to a significant reduction in the costs of its operation. “Captain Antypov” will be able to return the investment after a few years of work.

The Austrian shipyard ÖSWAG considers the project a success and is convinced that “Captain Antypov” will become a model for other shipping companies on the Danube, which seek to modernize their fleet in accordance with the new European standards.

During the negotiations, the representatives of the shipyard also agreed to certain changes in the terms of the contract, which allows the continuation of the project. “Captain Antypov” will soon leave for Izmail, and work on the second vessel, which is being developed jointly with Ukrainian and Austrian specialists, is already underway.
