British intelligence: Russia may have exaggerated the scale of the Ocean-24 naval exercises

The Russian Federation probably exaggerated by a quarter the number of ships involved in the large-scale “Ocean-24” exercises.

During the large-scale strategic exercises “Ocean-24” conducted by the Russian Navy, the Russian side probably exaggerated the number of ships involved. “Ukrinform” writes about this.

The maneuvers were intended to demonstrate the “capability of the fleet” against the background of the war against Ukraine. British intelligence noted that these were the first major exercises in the last two years. Until 2022, Russia conducted such maneuvers every year, but they were suspended due to the war in Ukraine.

Thus, the Russian propaganda media claimed that more than 400 ships, 120 planes, 7,000 vehicles and 90,000 soldiers were involved in the exercises. Maneuvers were conducted in the Barents, Baltic, Mediterranean and Caspian seas, as well as in the Pacific and Arctic oceans.

However, according to British intelligence, the real number of ships was about 300 units. Exercises in the Black Sea were not conducted during the first six months of 2024, probably due to Ukrainian attacks.

The day before, USM wrote that the Russians are imitating the repair of the Rostov-on-Don submarine, which was hit by the Armed Forces in the summer.
