The invaders plan to open a customs point in the port of Berdyansk
The Russian authorities will create a customs checkpoint in the Berdyansk seaport to work with foreign vessels.
According to Latifundist, this decision is stated in a letter from Deputy Prime Minister Vitalii Savelyev to Russian President Putin dated December 12, 2024.
The document states that in October 2024, the Russian-appointed “governor” of the Zaporizhzhia region, Yevgenii Balytskyi, submitted to the Ministry of Transport a justification for the feasibility of creating a checkpoint in the Berdyansk seaport.
The government, together with the occupation administration of the Zaporizhzhia region, began working on the issue of placing employees of state control bodies in the port. The letter contains Putin’s resolution: “Agree.”
According to Balytsky, after the creation of a checkpoint in the Berdyansk port, it will be possible to issue customs documents on site, which will make it impossible for ships to be idle and will allow direct flights to foreign ports. The occupiers will also be able to “involve a fleet under foreign flags.” Thus, it will be possible to directly import potatoes, fruits and fertilizers from Egypt, and dried fruits, cement and building materials from Turkey.
According to the Ukrainian publication “Texts”, which is engaged in data collection and investigations, the total value of grain exported by the Russian Federation from the temporarily occupied territories through Berdyansk and Mariupol could be $6.4 billion. With this grain, the Russian authorities “feed” their friends, and pay Iran for the supply of missiles.
As previously reported by USM, at the end of last year, the Russians announced plans to officially export stolen Ukrainian grain from the Kherson region through Crimea to “friendly countries.”
