Russian port of Ust-Luga halts operations after explosions
A Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian oil port of Ust-Luga likely damaged a pipeline system that supplies crude.
Oil flow through the Russian port of Ust-Luga had dropped to zero as of January 29. No tankers have left the port since then, Bloomberg reported.
A Ukrainian source told Bloomberg that the halt in oil shipments to Ust-Luga was caused by a drone strike on the Andreapol pumping station on the Baltic Pipeline System-2. However, this information has not yet been confirmed, and the Russian pipeline operator declined to comment.
Last year, about 650,000 barrels of oil passed through the port per day, which is about 20% of all Russian seaborne oil exports.
However, according to estimates by the International Energy Agency, in 2025 the global oil supply surplus will reach 725 thousand barrels per day, which could partially compensate the Kremlin for supply disruptions.
Earlier, USM reported that the SBU attacked the port of Ust-Luga with drones, from which Russia transported oil.
