Hetmantsev: grain exports via the maritime corridor reached 70 million tons

More than 4 thousand ships have already passed through the Ukrainian maritime corridor.

This was reported by the head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev.

According to him, the export of Ukrainian agricultural products through the maritime corridor reached 70 million tons. Another 36 million tons of cargo are non-food goods (in particular, ore, metallurgical products, etc.).

“At the same time, the war continues to remain a key deterrent for the export of products through the Black Sea. We lack air defense systems that could protect the ports of Great Odesa from systematic attacks. They continue and regularly harm maritime exports,” said Danylo Getmantsev.

He recalled a recent attack that injured two workers and caused damage to Odesa’s port infrastructure. Two foreign ships were also damaged — the container ship MSC Levante F and the dry cargo ship Super Sarkas.

“The number of foreign ships damaged in Ukrainian seaports has reached 29.

Restoring land-based port infrastructure also requires time and money. Certain resources were reallocated at the end of last year, but there is never a lot of money. In this regard, we are counting on the World Bank project “Restoration of Critical Logistics Infrastructure and Network Connectivity” (RELINC), which is currently being implemented in Ukraine,” the official emphasized.

Recall that last year, the cargo turnover of seaports amounted to 97.2 million tons (almost 1.6 times more than in 2023).
