This state of affairs creates a favorable situation for charterers. Thus, today the cost of transportation by “handy sizes” from Chornomorsk to Italy fluctuates within $ 16-17 / t, to Spain – $ 17-19 / t. Freight rates for “coasters” from Izmail to Italy are $ 30-32 / t.
The general trend in the market indicates the preservation of the current situation. Excess tonnage and limited cargo flow will probably continue to restrain the growth of transportation rates.
