Pletenchuk: “grain corridor” may become a subject of discussion about a truce at sea

The subject of the 30-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia may be the “grain corridor” in the Black Sea.

This opinion was shared by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, on FREEДOM

According to him, the ceasefire at sea is important for Ukraine from the point of view of the port infrastructure, which is regularly shelled by the Russian military. Currently, the Black Sea area is under the cover of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

“That is, we are in a more advantageous position than the Russians. However, the occupiers are hindering civilian shipping in the Black Sea, so the ceasefire at sea is important in this context. For us, peace is also an end to shelling of our port infrastructure,” Pletenchuk noted.

He also recalled that Ukraine and the Russian Federation had already agreed on a regime of silence during the “grain agreement.” After withdrawing from it, Russia began regular shelling of Ukrainian ports and infrastructure.

As previously reported by USM, Russia destroyed or damaged 385 port infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
