Ukraine destroyed 40% of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea

Ukrainian tactics in the Black Sea have become a unique example of successful resistance to a numerically and technologically superior fleet.
Ukraine, despite limited naval resources, was able to inflict serious losses on the Russian fleet. This was stated by US Navy Rear Admiral Michael Mattis, the “Voice of America” writes.
Thus, about 40% of the Russian Black Sea Fleet was destroyed or disabled.
The Rear Admiral emphasized that Ukraine’s actions to create a “maritime no-go zone” not only limited Russia’s actions, but also allowed the grain corridor, which is critically important for the world food market, to remain operational. According to him, about 25% of global grain cargo passes through Ukrainian Black Sea ports.
“They (ed.: the Russians) are no longer arguing over this Black Sea region, which Ukraine has effectively closed off to them,” Mattis said, adding that Russia is now forced to spend significant resources on detecting Ukrainian drones.
In contrast, Finland is recording increased Russian activity in the Baltic Sea.
