Ukrainian grain exports halved in May


In May, the volume of grain and leguminous crops exports from Ukraine fell more than twice compared to the same period last year.

This was reported by  Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

As of May 26, since the beginning of the 2024/25 marketing year, Ukraine has exported 37.72 million tons of grain, of which 2.45 million tons in May. For comparison, in May 2024, exports amounted to almost 4.95 million tons, and the total volume of deliveries since the beginning of that marketing year reached 46.35 million tons.

The basis of this year’s exports is corn – 20.23 million tons, of which 1.69 million tons in May. Also, since the beginning of the season, 14.64 million tons of wheat (732 thousand tons in May) and 2.29 million tons of barley (26 thousand tons in May) have been sent abroad. Rye was not exported at all in May, and the total volume of its shipments for the season is 10.8 thousand tons.

Ukrainian flour exports since the beginning of the season are estimated at 63.7 thousand tons, of which 5.1 thousand tons fell in May. Wheat flour accounts for the lion’s share of this volume – 59.4 thousand tons (5 thousand tons in May).

Earlier, USM reported that Ukraine and Sweden discussed the export of agricultural products via the Baltic Sea.
