Norway will finance the development and production of surface drones in Ukraine

Norway has allocated about 6.7 billion Norwegian kroner to support the maritime coalition, which it leads jointly with the United Kingdom.

The Norwegian Ministry of Defense reported this on the social network Х.

Part of the money allocated in 2025 will be directed to the development and production of unmanned naval vessels using technologies from Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace.

The company is a supplier of defense and space systems and products, including anti-ship missiles, military communications, as well as command and control systems for naval ships and air defense systems.

Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace has signed an agreement with a Ukrainian partner to produce unmanned surface vehicles in Ukraine, during which Norwegian technologies and expertise will be used.

“Unmanned vessels help Ukraine defend its territory and neutralize the Russian fleet in the Black Sea,” the ministry said in a statement.

Recall that Norway and the United Kingdom established the Maritime Capabilities Coalition to make the Ukrainian Navy more compatible with Western allies.

At the end of 2024, it became known that Norway would provide 2.7 billion kroner (approximately $242.38 million) to strengthen the Ukrainian fleet.
