Russia may have operated the naval drone that exploded in the port of Constanta in June, — Romanian Presidential Administration

The Romanian presidential administration said that the naval drone that exploded in the port of Constanta on June 5 could have been intercepted by Russia.

Veridica reports this with reference to the presidential administration’s response to journalists.

“Preliminary assessments currently point to the hypothesis of the interception of control over the drone by the Russian Federation,” the administration said.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing. The presidential administration noted that it takes more time than initially expected.

As a reminder, the incident occurred on June 5 in the port of Constanta. The drone entered the port at speed at around 01:30 and maneuvered between a tugboat and a tanker. Later, the drone stopped near the tanker Amalthia and remained there for several hours until it exploded. The Romanian authorities opened an investigation after the incident.

USM previously reported that after the drone explosion in the port of Constanta, Romania accelerated military communication with Ukraine.
