Ukrainian ships participate in international exercises “Sea Breeze”

The second part of the international exercises “Sea Breeze 2025” series has started in Portland (Great Britain).
This was reported by the press service of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On June 30, the second part of the international multinational exercises “Sea Breeze” with the participation of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was solemnly opened in the port of Portland. The main topic in the maritime component traditionally remains mine action.
Four Ukrainian mine action ships went to sea, including the recently adopted “Mariupol” and “Melitopol” into the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as foreign ships from the permanent NATO mine action group.
“The purpose of the exercises is to practice the training of units in an environment close to real in order to ensure full integration in multinational operations. The main attention will be paid to assessing the interoperability of Ukrainian units with the requirements and standards of partner countries,” the message says.
During the opening ceremony, the representative of the Ukrainian side, Commodore Dmytro Kovalenko, emphasized that the demining of the Black Sea is vital for all Black Sea countries, as the safe functioning of merchant shipping is the basis of the economic stability and prosperity of the region.
In turn, the representative of the 6th US Fleet, Rear Admiral Michael Mattis, emphasized the importance of the combat experience that Ukrainian military sailors share with their partners.
It should be noted that this year, representatives of 22 countries, including NATO member states and partner countries, joined the maritime component of the Sea Breeze 2025 exercise.
As previously reported by USM, Belgium and the Netherlands transferred two minesweepers to Ukraine, which became part of the Ukrainian Navy – Mariupol and Melitopol.
