Navy: Ukrainian strikes force Russia to reconsider naval blockade tactics

The Russian Federation continues to try to hinder civilian shipping, but after a series of strikes on the fleet, it itself is facing growing problems in the Azov-Black Sea region.

Russia continues to implement a strategy of naval blockade of Ukraine, seeking to limit its export and import capabilities. This was stated on the air of the telethon by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, wrtites Ukrinform.

At the same time, due to the loss of the ship’s composition, the damage to the logistics infrastructure and new Ukrainian operations, it is forced to adapt its methods.

“In fact, the enemy’s desire to harm us in terms of our export and import capabilities has not changed. The enemy’s desire to prevent Ukraine from continuing to carry out civilian shipping has definitely not changed… The only thing that changes is the tactics of application, the means used for this,” he said.

According to Pletenchuk, now Russia itself is increasingly feeling the restrictions on maritime logistics.

“This game can be played by two, so the naval blockade is currently taking place on the other side of Crimea, in the Sea of ​​Azov. The blockade is now affecting the Black Sea, including due to strikes by the Ukrainian side,” the spokesman noted.

This is, in particular, the consequences of the SBS operation, within the framework of which the Defense Forces began to systematically strike Russian logistics, ships and military infrastructure in the Sea of ​​Azov. As a result, Russia is increasingly forced to take into account the risks to its own maritime transport and military supplies.

At the same time, Pletenchuk stressed that the campaign to weaken Russian logistics takes time.

“I would not expect any such tangible results by the end of the summer, because the enemy infrastructure is large, it has been filling up for a long time and it will not be possible to turn it off right away. But if we do not do this, it will never happen… Their logistics, as you can see, have now suffered quite seriously,” he said.

The spokesman also drew attention to the changing nature of Russian attacks. According to him, the enemy is increasingly using other types of weapons and changing the methods of their application, which may indicate the gradual depletion of the resources on which it relied earlier.

Recall that on July 20, the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the destruction of seven ships of the Russian “shadow fleet” in the Azov and Black Seas, six air defense systems on the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as seven energy facilities in the temporarily occupied territories, in particular in Crimea.

Also, the day before, USM reported that Russia had attacked a civilian vessel near Odesa: 10 people were killed.
