Black Sea wheat prices have fallen: Algeria held a new tender with prices below $259

OAIC contracted about 600 thousand tons of soft wheat in the latest tender at a price slightly lower than the September one.

The purchase took place on October 22, and the announced price was about $258.5 per ton on C&F terms with delivery in two periods – from December 1 to 15 and from December 16 to 31. This is reported by ASAP Agri.

For comparison: in the previous tender on September 23, OAIC purchased about 500-690 thousand tons at a price of $259-261 per ton with delivery in November. Thus, the current purchase indicates a moderate decrease in prices.

The market notes that the main contenders for the contract are suppliers from the Black Sea region and Argentina. At the same time, Ukrainian wheat with a protein content of 11.5% was offered at $232/t for November and $230/t for December on FOB terms – this corresponds to the September range of $229–233/t for deliveries in October.

The day before, USM reported that eight ships with Ukrainian grain were stuck in Egyptian ports.
