UDS has improved the efficiency of the river fleet, – Ministry of Development

The Ministry of Development of Ukraine announced that the average monthly volume of cargo transportation on the Danube has increased by 43% since the beginning of the year.
This was reported by the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
“As of September 2025, PrJSC “Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company” (UDS) demonstrates a steady improvement in production and financial results. The enterprise increases transportation volumes, reduces losses, stabilizes cash flows and implements modern corporate governance standards,” the report says.
In particular, according to the agency, UDS was able to significantly increase the efficiency of the river cargo fleet. Compared to the first quarter, in the third:
• the average number of caravans increased by 3.8 times;
• the average monthly volume of transportation by the river fleet increased by 43%;
• the volume of reverse loading of vessels doubled.
The company is also negotiating with fleet charterers on new routes and transportation conditions, which will expand the geography of operations in the fourth quarter.
Thanks to measures to optimize costs and increase management discipline:
• operating losses decreased by 1.5 times, and net loss decreased by 1.8 times;
• the share of fixed costs in the cost price decreased by 8%, and administrative expenses decreased by almost half;
• average monthly cash receipts increased by 46%, and fixed operating payments decreased by 10%.
“Also, with the support of the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine and the Government of Japan, an analysis of the corruption prevention system at the enterprise has been launched — another step towards increasing integrity and transparency,” the department noted.
The Ministry of Development noted that it continues to work on attracting preferential financing for the modernization of the UDS fleet, which will be the next stage of the company’s renewal.
